Sasha's Home “I was working at the bakery in Luverne one day when a friend invited me to attend the local Rotary Club meeting where a missionary from Ukraine was scheduled to speak. I went and listened to a man by the name of Kenny Payne speak of abandoned children forced to live in hospitals with sick children with no chance for adoption. It was then I decided I would help where I could and I began working with the Abandoned Baby Center in Gorlovka, Ukraine.”
After several years of helping with money and medical supplies for the abandoned children, Barnes and Payne decided to take steps to bring more to the children – a home. Sasha’s Home in Gorlovka, Ukraine is dedicated to creating a warm and loving environment for abandoned Ukrainian children. The house will serve as a temporary home for the children while they await adoption by their ‘forever families’ and is a better alternative to the over-crowded state institutions.
The Barnes Family Foundation has pledged their support by launching a fund-raising campaign to support Sasha‘s Home. Currently under construction, the cost to build out the home will be approximately $1 million.
