“If you don’t know where you came from, how do you know where you’re going and what you’re supposed to be?”
– Sister Schubert
The Barnes Family Foundation strongly believes in preserving our heritage through maintaining and restoring historical sites. In an effort to save our history, the foundation has supported several restoration projects in Alabama including the Pioneer Museum. The foundation provided many artifacts and cash donations to maintain the relics from the pioneer days.
Most recently, the Barnes Family Foundation purchased a historical home that was listed on the National Historical Registry to keep the home from being destroyed. The 1867 house originally belonged to Sister’s family – the Henderson family. The foundation has overseen the renovation and restoration process paying close attention to keeping true to the period of the house through cosmetic and architectural changes.
