History of the Foundation
The Barnes Family Foundation was established in 2001 when "Sister" Patricia Barnes decided to use her financial resources to aid others in the world. Sister formed a family foundation with the vision to provide charitable services to the public. The Barnes Family Foundation began by providing food for the hungry and quickly grew as Sister’s heart was touched by additional needs in her community and the world.

Barnes, who had been providing cash and medical supplies to abandoned children in the Ukraine, decided more needed to be done to improve the lives of these helpless children. Barnes collaborated with missionaries in the Ukraine and began planning a project to build an orphanage for those abandoned children. The Barnes Family Foundation is instrumental in raising funds needed to build Sasha's Home for the orphaned children in Gorlovka, Ukraine.

After seeing the needs around the globe, Barnes knew the public had to be aware of the afflictions that faced so many in our world. Inspired to provide others the opportunity to travel, Barnes established a scholarship in 2005 to help young college students study abroad and thus broaden their knowledge of the world outside their own community.

The Barnes Family Foundation continues to support projects today that inspire, inform and improve the lives of God’s people and the communities they live in.

We believe it does little good to talk about the injustices and poverty in our world unless we are willing to do something to make a difference.
